Quran Surah 90 - Al-Balad (The City)
Ayat 1 - I CALL THIS earth to witness --
Ayat 2 - And you are free to live upon it, --
Ayat 3 - And the parent and the offspring,
Ayat 4 - That We created man in toil and trouble.
Ayat 5 - Does he think that no one has power over
him?
Ayat 6 - He says: "I have wasted a great deal of
wealth."
Ayat 7 - Does he think that no one sees him?
Ayat 8 - Did We not give him two eyes,
Ayat 9 - One tongue, and two lips,
Ayat 10 - And showed him two highways (of good and
evil)?
Ayat 11 - But he could not scale the steep ascent.
Ayat 12 - How will you comprehend what the Steep
ascent is? --
Ayat 13 - To free a neck (from the burden of debt or
slavery),
Ayat 14 - Or to feed in times of famine
Ayat 15 - The orphan near in relationship,
Ayat 16 - Or the poor in distress;
Ayat 17 - And to be of those who believe, and urge
upon one another to persevere, and urge upon each other to be kind.
Ayat 18 - They are the people of the right hand (and
will succeed).
Ayat 19 - But those who deny Our revelations are the
people of the left hand:
Ayat 20 - The Fire will vault them over.
